Sustainable Mascara

This weekend

Have you ever wondered what happens to your makeup packaging?

All the makeup you find on the market today comes in plastic tubes, plastic bottles, plastic sticks, etc..

Those are hard plastic packagings which are one of the most difficult to recycle and upcycle.

So let’s reuse them and refill with our 100% natural homemade mascara!

Takes 6 min
Lasts for months

You do have 6 minutes to treat yourself, don’t you?

A. 2 tsp coconut oil
B. 4 tsp aloe vera gel
C. 1/2 tsp bees wax
D. 3 tsp vitamin E oil
E. 3 capsules of  activated charcoal
F. 1 old and clean mascara container or sterilized glass jar

If you want it brown just replace the activated charcoal with sugar free cocoa powder.

Check that all the plastic containers of the ingredients you buy for this recipe have this symbol :

That means that is recylable. Obviously is much better if you can buy them packed in other materials.

1. Put A,B, C and D in a sauce pan at low heat for 4 mins.
2. Then add the charcoal or the cocoa powder and stir until completely incorporated.
3. Remove from heat and store it in a sterilized glass jar or in your old but clean mascara container.

Remember if you are living in a really hot climate, keep your mascara in the fridge!

Besides being 100% #ecofriendly it doesn’t contain any chemicals, it’s a cheap and wonderful treat for your body too!

Enjoy it!
